Karen Hunter 1958-2023

Karen Hunter, 64, Hoyt, died Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born Oct. 19, 1958, in Topeka, the daughter of Clayton and Verla Parsons Hunter. She graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1976.

Ms. Hunter had been the operations manager at West Ridge Mall in Topeka for 30 years, retiring at the beginning of May.

Survivors include her parents, Clayton and Verla Hunter, Hoyt; three daughters, Heidi Young and husband Greg, Topeka, Katie Sutherland and husband Ryan, Greeley, Colo., and Jayme Bausch, Lawrence; two brothers, Chris Hunter, Pensacola, Fla., and Kirk Hunter, Augusta; a sister, Connie Schaefer, Mayetta; and two grandchildren, Rylan and Harkin.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Burial will follow in Hoyt Cemetery. Ms. Hunter will lie in state from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
