Judith Thompson 1939-2019

Judith Kay Decker Thompson, 79, Denison, died Sunday, April 14, 2019, at The Pines in Hiawatha.

She was born May 25, 1939, in Holton, the daughter of Howard and Mary Helen Kling Kidney. She graduated from Holton High School in 1957 and from beauty school in 1983 in Topeka.

Mrs. Thompson was a hairdresser and owned and operated beauty salons in Topeka, Lyndon, Circleville and Holton.

She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church and several card clubs.

She married Marvin L. Decker on Nov. 5, 1958. They divorced. She married Harold E. Thompson on June 2, 1998. He survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Kellie Decker Hundley, Holton, Tammie Decker Abel, Port Aransas, Texas, and Beckie Decker Rouse and husband Dennis, Meriden; a stepdaughter, Ruth Ann Thompson, Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, H. Keith Kidney, St. Marys, and Robert Kidney and wife Elaine, Carmel, Ind.; six grandchildren, Erika, Annie, Jeni, Parker, Hunter and Corbin; and six great-grandchildren, Chase, Shelbie, Collier, Maddie, Charlie and Jonah.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-grandson, Rowdie Grant Nimmo.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
