John Webster 1939-2017

 

John E. Webster, 77, Holton, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at The Pines in Holton.

He was born Dec. 15, 1939, in Leon, the son of Harvey and Zetta Burris Webster. He attended Ce­darville Country School and had attended Sedan High School. He had spent most of his life in the Jackson and Atchison communities.

Mr. Webster was a heavy equipment mechanic for Schmid­tline Excavating, retiring in 2002. He was also a lifelong farmer.

He was a member of Operators Union 101 in Kansas City, Mo.

He married June Cattrell. They divorced. He later married Judy Cobb on Feb. 23, 1973, in Holton. She preceded him in death, as did his parents and two brothers, James and Daniel Webster.

Survivors include three sons, Harvey Webster and wife Angela, Holton, John Webster Jr. and Mi­chael Webster; two daughters, Re­becca Webster-Zishka and husband David, Leavenworth, and Dawn Scarlett, Atchison; wo brothers, William Webster, Netawaka, and Thomas Webster, Whiting; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mercer Fu­neral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Muscotah Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
