Joey Ramirez 1994-2018

Joseph “Joey” Raymond Ramirez, 24, Horton, died Monday, June 4, 2018, in Topeka.

He was born March 7, 1994, in Hiawatha, the son of Sam and Ramona Greene Ramirez.

Mr. Ramirez worked for the City of Horton in water and waste management and as a tile installer in Oklahoma.

He was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe.

Survivors include his father, Sam Ramirez, Horton; two sons, Savior Thomas Ramirez and Justice Thomas Ramirez, both of Mayetta; a daughter, Athena Thomas Ramirez, Mayetta; a sister, Madelyn Horn, Eugene, Ore.; and two brothers, Ryan Green, Powhattan, and Jonathan Ramirez, Horton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Ramirez; and a sister, Audrey Ramirez.

Native American church services were held Friday at Wayne Jessepe’s home on the Kickapoo Reservation. Burial was held Saturday morning at the Old Danceground Cemetery in Mayetta. Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton is in charge of arrangements.
