Joe Fund 1970-2020
Joey Lavere “Joe” Fund, 49, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020 at his home after a courageous battle with brain cancer, with family by his side.
He was born Nov. 4, 1970 in Holton, the son of James Lavere “Jim” Fund and Marsha Elaine Patterson.
Joe graduated from Jackson Heights High School in 1989 and attended K-State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He lived for more than 23 years in Topeka and previously in Holton and Manhattan.
Joe was a project manager for the National Agriculture Biosecurity Center through K-State for more than 10 years. He also worked for the State of Kansas Water Department as Chief Fiscal Officer for more than 10 years.
He married Andrea Adair Newman on Sept. 18, 1993, in Manhattan. They celebrated more than 26 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea, of the home; three children, Cody Fund of Seattle, Wash., Ashten Jackson (Josh) of Manhattan and Colton Fund of the home; his father, Jim Fund (June) of Horton; two sisters, Marsene Feldt (Nathan) of Lawrence and Charlene Moran (Richard) of Topeka; a brother, Scott Fund of Holton; two grandchildren, Ava and Liam Jackson; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marsha E. Patterson Abarr; and a brother, William Edwin Fund.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends after the service until 6:30 p.m.
