Jean Haag 1922-2015

 

Jean Marie Haag, 93, Hays, for­merly of Holton, died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born February 24, 1922 in Larkinburg, KS the daughter of Homer M. and Nora A. Shaffer Humphrey. She graduated from Holton High School in 1940 and attended Woods Women’s College in Fulton, Mo., and Washburn Uni­versity.

Mrs. Haag did office work and was a homemaker. She and her husband lived in Garden City from 1949 to 1982, then moved to the family farm in Larkinburg. She later lived in Topeka for 10 years, then moved to Hays in 2010 and lived at Cedar View Assisted Liv­ing and Via Christi Nursing Home.

She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church, Chapter D.A.R. and Chapter P.E.O, all in Holton.

She married Lloyd H. Haag on June 24, 1943, in Holton. He died April 29, 2004. She was also pre­ceded in death by three brothers, Wendell, H. Dean and Richard Humphrey.

Survivors include a son, Dale Haag and wife Katie, Hays; two daughters, Lloydeen Wolfe and husband Rodney, Garden City, and Jeannine Haag, Fort Collins, Colo.; three grandchildren, Jonathon Haag and wife Peggy, Jason Haag and wife Jennifer and James Haag; and five great-grandchildren, Emma, Kayley and Bentley Haag and Avery and Britton Whitmire.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Fu­neral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
