Janie Teetzel 1954-2022
Janie A. Teetzel, 67, of Mayetta, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
She was born Aug. 19, 1954, in Topeka, the daughter of Jack and Betty Martin Fuqua. She graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1972.
Janie was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta.
Her passion was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She also was a barber instructor in Topeka.
She married Earl Floyd Teetzel on June 15, 1974, at St. Francis Xavier in Mayetta. He survives, of the home.
Janie was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Abella Rose Teetzel; and a brother, Steve Fuqua.
Other survivors include a son, Sean Teetzel (Tracy), Hoyt; three daughters, Jackie Gunn, Topeka, Carrie Jo Queen (Jeff), Bellevue, Neb., and Melinda Filbert (Aaron), Hoyt; her parents, Jack and Betty Fuqua, Mayetta; two brothers, Van Fuqua, in California, and George Fuqua, Mayetta; four sisters, Mary DeVader, Holton, Debbie Albright, Hoyt, Kim Fuqua, Mayetta, and Michelle Auten, in Texas; 10 grandchildren, Jazzmyne, Mariah, Emilee, Gracie, Azarias, Manuel, Oliver, Augustus, AnnieJo and Abram; and two great grandchildren, Aries and Abel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mayetta Cemetery. Janie will lie in state after noon on Sunday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt, where family and friends will meet from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
