Howard Irick 1927-2015
Howard E. Irick, 88, Holton, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at Medicalodges Jackson County.
He was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Holton, the son of Marion and Minnie A. Eden Irick. He graduated from Holton High School in 1945.
Mr. Irick served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He lived most of his life in the Holton community, except for seven years in Valley Falls. He was a self-employed carpenter in the Holton area.
He was a member of Circleville Christian Church.
He married Ruth Anne Hill on May 1, 1946, in Holton. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Lynnette Bruns and husband Ed, Holton; a son, Dennis Irick and wife Cindy, Auburn, Wash.; a sister, Helen Schroder, in North Carolina; two brothers, Harris Irick, in Wyoming, and Harry Irick, in California; three grandchildren, Renee Drossel and husband Jason, Daniel Irick and wife Kelly and David Irick and wife Vanessa; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace Drossel and Gavin Howard Irick. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Hollis Irick.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will be held in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
