Helen Worrall 1914-2016
Helen Worrall, 101, of Holton, passed away on March 26, 2016, at Vintage Park, Holton.
She was born Aug. 21, 1914, in Kansas City, the daughter of Petro and Antonia (Solowski) Gregorcyk.
Helen’s childhood was spent in Kansas City until the family moved to Wakeeney. She lived there until graduation from Wakeeney Kansas High School. Before moving to Holton on Aug. 3, 2005, she lived in Wichita and moved to Shell Knob, Mo., during the month of September, 1973 to spend her retirement years with her husband Ralph A. Worrall. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in August of 1973, as a long-time employee.
Helen enjoyed playing bridge with friends, doing various kinds of handwork, ceramics, gardening, traveling and fishing with her husband. They especially enjoyed fishing in Mexico, Minnesota and Missouri.
She married Ralph A. Worrall on Feb. 25, 1939 in Wichita. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Petro Gregorcyk, Oct. 13, 1975, and Antonia (Solowski) Gregorcyk, March 13, 1975; sisters Katherine Gregorcyk, 1910, Josephine Agatha Peacock, May 10, 2010, and Connie Peacock, July 11, 2014.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Patricia Kellerman, Holton, June Hanks, West Des Moines, Iowa, Claudia Bibber, Carmel Valley, Calif., Robert Peacock, Midway, Utah, Sheldon Peacock, Great Bend, Cathy Peacock, Las Vegas, Nev., Frank Worrall, Topeka, Linda Rowzer, Topeka, and John Ritchie, Whitehall, Mich.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9 at Mercer Funeral Home. Family visitation will be held at 3 p.m. until service time. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Old Mission Cemetery, Wichita.
