Harold Sauvage 1943-2018
Harold P. “Poodle” Sauvage, 75, Topeka, formerly of Havensville, died Sunday, April 22, 2018.
He was born in 1943, the son of Ralph G. Sauvage and Opal Bolin Thrasher. He attended Havensville High School.
Mr. Sauvage retired from Iron Workers Local 10 and later retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation in 2005.
He married Susan “Sue” Whelchel in 1978 at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Carol Degenhardt, Cheryl Bergman and husband Eddie and Sheila Sauvage, all of Topeka; three stepsons, James Lloyd and wife Kathleen, Las Cruces, N.M., Jeffery Lloyd and wife Kay, Ottumwa, Iowa, and John Lloyd and wife Jennifer, Ozawkie; a sister, Rosalie Ingram, Texhoma, Okla.; two brothers, Karl Sauvage and wife Dee, Onaga, and Gordon Sauvage and wife Laura, Flagstaff, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Randel and Glenda Bosse; and a grandson, Larry Lone.
A celebration of Mr. Sauvage’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 26 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
