Geraldine Hamlin 1933-2022
Geraldine Marie Hamlin, 88, of Hoyt, passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at her home with family by her side.
She was born Dec. 13, 1933, in Hoyt, the daughter of Charles M. and Goldie Irene (Stewart) Pappan.
Geraldine graduated from Circleville High School. She was owner and operator, with her husband, Kenneth, of Hamlin Plumbing and Heating in Hoyt. She was Royal Valley High School secretary for more than 25 years, worked for Harrah’s Prairie Band Casino in the soft count department and later for the Prairie Band Gaming Commission.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden, a former member of Circleville Christian Church and a member of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.
Geraldine married Kenneth Eugene Hamlin on Dec. 18, 1952, in Chanute. They celebrated more than 49 years of marriage before his passing on Nov. 20, 2002. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Simon, Theresa Anderson, Sharon McClane and Margaret Ann Pappan.
Survivors include three sons, Martin E. Hamlin of Topeka, Charles Hamlin of Mayetta and Bruce Hamlin of Hoyt; a daughter, Joan Wood (Allen) of Topeka; a sister, Charlene Anderson of Hoyt; a brother, Donald C. Pappan (Sherry) of Topeka; five grandchildren, Casey, Colby, Chase, Cierra and Ashly; and four great-grandchildren, Connor, Trinity, Amelia and Clyde.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5 in Hoyt Cemetery.
