Gerald Ritenour 1937-2019

Gerald William Ritenour, 82, Holton, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, in Holton.

He was born Dec. 25, 1937 in Martinsburg, W.Va., the son of John William and Mary Jane Wellen Ritenour.

Mr. Ritenour served in the U.S. Marines and later retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1975, after 22 years of service. He worked at the VA Medical Center in Topeka, retiring after more than 20 years. He later worked for seven years at Prairie Band Casino and Resort, formerly Harrah’s Prairie Band Casino.

He was a member of New Hope Family Church and Holton VFW Post 1367, both in Holton.

He married Lieu Thi Nyguen in 1971. She died in 2002. He married Loyola Faye Holt-Bain on Aug. 15, 2003, in Holton. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Bonnie L. Ritenour-Nelson and husband Chandler, Marquette; a stepdaughter, LeAnn Holt-Mock, Caney; two stepsons, Donald Holt Jr. and wife Sharon, Topeka, and Rodney Holt and wife Anita, Holton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a stepson, Ronald Holt; and a sister. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment with military honors will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Topeka. Family will greet friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9 at the funeral home.
