Gerald Ireland Jr. 1962-2022

Gerald Russell Ireland Jr., 59, of McLouth, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2022, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

He was born Jan. 21, 1962, at Horton, the son of Gerald Russell Sr. and Norma Kay (Reeves) Ireland. He was a 1980 graduate of McLouth High School and attended lineman training at Manhattan Area Technical School.

He served 35 years as a lineman for Free State Electric Cooperative, formerly Leavenworth/Jefferson Electrical Coop in McLouth, retiring with a disability in 2020. He was also a farmer and stockman in the McLouth area for many years. He enjoyed raising horses, horseback riding and fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Norma Kay Ireland, McLouth; a daughter, Olivia (Nick) Kerns, Oskaloosa; two sons, Colin Ireland, Leavenworth, and Tucker Ireland, McLouth; a brother, Virgil Ireland, Napoleon, Mo.; a granddaughter; and four grandsons. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald R. Ireland Sr., on Aug. 29, 2021.

Cremation care is planned. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
