George Harding 1929-2021

George Douglas Harding, 92, of Holton, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born March 4, 1929 in Marlow, Okla., the son of Curtis John and Hetti Elizabeth (Tuckey) Harding.

George graduated from Central High School in 1948 at Marlow, Okla. He was a carpenter most of his life, working for Whelan’s Lumber Company, Lee & Butell Construction and Topeka Mill Work, all in Topeka.

Survivors include his wife, Flodell, of the home; two sons, Gary R. Harding (Sharon) of Meriden and Alan “Keith” Harding (Terri) of Mayetta; a daughter, Sherri Steinlage (Daniel), of Corning; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Hetti Harding; a sister, Margaret Dorr; and three brothers, Curtis, Henry and James Harding.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, at Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
