Genny Fitzpatrick 1992-2023; Peyton Tyler 2013-2023; Kourtney Tyler 2021-2023

Genny Lyn Fitzpatrick, 30, of Topeka, passed away tragically in a home fire on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, along with her daughters, Peyton and Kourtney Tyler.

Genny was born Dec. 15, 1992, in Atchison, the daughter of Gary Fitzpatrick and Merry (Callison) Fitzpatrick. She graduated from Holton High School in 2011 and attended a few years of college. She worked for McDonald’s and was a floral designer for Dillons in Topeka.

Genny is survived by her parents, Merry Fitzpatrick (Bill) of Boyd, Wisc., and Gary Fitzpatrick (Beth) of Falls City, Neb.; and a brother, Wesley Fitzpatrick (Rebecca) of Mayetta.

Peyton Lyn Tyler, 9, passed away along with her mother and sister on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023. She was born Aug. 14, 2013 in Onaga, the daughter of Genny Lyn Fitzpatrick. She was a fourth-grader at Lowman Elementary in Topeka. Peyton wanted to be a fashion designer. She participated in gymnastics, ballet and spelling bees.

Kourtney Kavette Tyler, 1½, passed away along with her mother and sister on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023. She was born April 23, 2021, in Onaga, the daughter of Genny Lyn Fitzpatrick. Kourtney was very happy and “head-strong;” she enjoyed Elmo, Blue’s Clues and Baby Shark.

Survivors of the children are their grandparents, Kathy Tyler of Topeka, Cecil Clement of Topeka, Merry Fitzpatrick (Bill) of Boyd, Wisc., Gary Fitzpatrick (Beth) of Falls City, Neb., and Monte Tyler; great-grandparents, Bill and Darlene Mastin and Norman Fitzpatrick; two aunts, April Tyler (Codey) of Netawaka and Haley Tyler (Jon) of Topeka; and an uncle, Wesley Fitzpatrick (Rebecca “Becky”) of Mayetta.

A private memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private inurnment will follow in Thunder Eagle Cemetery south of Holton. A public celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at the Community Building (158th and Buffalo Dr.) on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation.
