Gene M. Dickinson, 93, Holton, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at The Pines in Holton.

She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Mayetta, the daughter of John Ed­ward and Jewel Burks James. She attended country grade schools and graduated from Mayetta High School in 1939. She attended Kan­sas State University for one year.

Mrs. Dickinson worked for the Security Benefit Association farm and hospital complex in Topeka, ironing for about two years before her marriage. She was a farmwife and homemaker after marrying. She had lived in the Holton com­munity since 1990 and had previ­ously lived on a farm between Holton and Whiting for 42 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Ban­ner Grange for many years, both in Holton. She was also a member of Daughters of the American Revo­lution, Samuel Linscott Chapter, also in Holton.

She married Noel “Bill” Dickin­son on Oct. 18, 1942, in Hoyt. He died April 13, 2014. She was also preceded in death by a grand­daughter, Ann Wallis, in 1994; a sister, Ruth Bradford; and two brothers, Jack and Frank James.

Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Wallis, Overbrook, and Edith Davey, Canandaigua, N.Y.; two sons, Jerry Dickinson and wife Lynne, Holton, and Dennis Dickin­son and wife Cynthia, Spring Hill; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Holton. Burial will follow in Mayetta Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
