Gary Anderson 1930-2017
Mr. Gary Paul Anderson, 86, of Holton, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Holton Community Hospital.
He was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Corning, the son of Paul L. and Audrey (Hybskmann) Anderson.
Gary grew up as the eldest of two children and attended Holton High School and Kansas State University. Gary was a partner with his father and brother managing Anderson Construction Company, Inc., which did bridge and dam construction in three states for several decades. Gary’s hobbies included traveling, hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Holton School Board in the early 1970s and one of the early founders of the Holton High School Wrestling program. He was a 32-degree Mason of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Boater Unit in Topeka.
Gary married Carol Cole in 1953 and the couple had three children, Michael, Erik and Korby.
Survivors include his brother, Ronald Anderson of Holton; two sons, Michael Brett Anderson (Sandy) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Erik Anderson (Sharon) of Atchison; and three grandchildren, Korby, Dane and Lindsay. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol and his son, Korby.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
