Gale Karns 1944-2016
Gale Elizabeth Slimmer Karns, 71, Holton, died Friday, March 18, 2016, at Holton Community Hospital.
She was born Aug. 26, 1944, in Holton, the daughter of Lawrence and LaVerna Drechsler Slimmer. She graduated from Holton High School in 1962 and from Clark's School of Business, Topeka, in 1963.
Ms. Karns worked for the State of Kansas for 41 years, retiring in 2004.
She was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church and Seekers Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son, Philip Karns and wife Tina, Auburn; two grandchildren, Rebecca Marie and Daniel Williams Karns; two brothers, Lawrence Slimmer Jr. and wife Lorna, Hiawatha, and Stephen Slimmer and wife Sheryl, Holton; six nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and a great-great-niece.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton with burial to follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
