Eva Bowser 1938-2020

Eva Virginia DeGroff Bowser, 81, Emmett, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Tanglewood Health and Rehab in Topeka.

She was born March 3, 1938, in Onaga, the daughter of Willie and Ella Leona DeGroff. She attended Onaga High School and later attended Highland Junior College, earning a degree in accounting.

Mrs. Bowser worked for the State of Kansas for eight years in the workers compensation division and 17 years in the Department of Human Resources, retiring in 2000. 

She was a member of St. Mary’s Bible Baptist Church.

She married Robert Bowser on Oct. 23, 1954, in Onaga. He preceded her in death, as did two sons, Robert and Wayne Bowser, and a brother, Don DeGroff.

Survivors include a son, Mark Bowser and wife Denise, Emmett; a sister-in-law, Carol Sook, Tecumseh; an aunt, Rachel Thompson, Nebraska City, Neb.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Soldier Cemetery, Soldier. Family will greet friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
