Erika Newman 1936-2015
Erika Newman, 78, Topeka, formerly of Valley Falls, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at Linnwood Home Plus in Valley Falls.
She was born Aug. 31, 1936, in Lubeck, Germany. She moved to the United States in 1964.
Mrs. Newman had worked at Pelletiers and later Macy’s and Dillard’s in Topeka until retirment in 1998. She and her husband lived in Valley Falls until moving to Topeka in 1975.
She married Richard Newman on July 23, 1964. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Nicholas Newman and wife Nicole, Westmoreland; two brothers, Hans Heinrich and Alfred Kallmeyer, both in Germany; and a grandson, Silas Newman. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Margot Rottgart.
Mrs. Newman was cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
