Elsie Hamilton 1925-2018
Elsie L. Hamilton, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018, at the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia.
She was born May 23, 1925, at Clements, the daughter of Walter and Myrtle Odle Berends. She graduated in 1943 from Cedar Point High School in Chase County.
Mrs. Hamilton had worked at Woolworth’s and East Avondale School, both in Topeka, and at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Ala.
She married Warren Hamilton on Nov. 23, 1946, in Lawrence. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Barbara Reeves, Seneca, and Victoria Smith and husband Berry “Smitty,” Havensville; a son, Rickey Hamilton and wife Phyllis, Tecumseh, Okla.; a brother, Williams Berends, Columbus, Ga.; two sisters, Lois Nicholas, Wichita, and Joyce Padget, Florence; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marvin Berends and Robert Berends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be held later in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Family and friends will meet from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday.
