Edward Dodson 1940-2021

Edward LeMoyne Dodson, 81, Denison, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at Onaga Community Hospital. 

He was born April 7, 1940, at Christ’s Hospital in Topeka, the son of Carl E. and Evelyn Buehler Dodson. He was a lifelong resident of Denison, graduating from Denison Rural High School in 1958. 

Mr. Dodson enlisted in the National Guard in 1961 and was a member of the 137th Infantry in Company B in Holton until his honorable discharge in 1968. He was a dairyman for more than 30 years and was also a self-employed carpenter. He also worked at Goodyear in Topeka for a short time.

He was a lifetime member of Denison Bible Church.

He married Arlene Wood on May 3, 1964, at Denison Bible Church. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Jim Dodson and wife Pam, Holton, and Joel Dodson and wife Jane, Caney; two grandchildren, Jordan and Bailey Dodson, both of Caney; two nephews, Lyndall Dodson and wife Karen, Kearney, Mo., and Daryl Dodson and wife Gina, Liberal, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Melba Dodson, Onaga.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Evelyn Dodson, and a brother, Orville Dodson, Onaga, on Sept. 20, 2021.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at Netawaka Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Mr. Dodson will lie in state Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.
