Earl Glen Everhart (1942-2022)

Earl Glen Everhart, 80, formerly of Hoyt, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022 at his home in Topeka.

He was born May 8, 1942 in Hillsboro, the son of Ted and Mildred Unruh Everhart. His childhood years were spent on the farm.

He graduated from Hoyt High School, Hoyt, in 1960. His high school years were filled with close friendships and the love of playing football. Although he loved the Jayhawks, college wasn’t for him, so he joined the Army Reserves and found careers that encouraged his farm work ethic and people skills.

Another integral part of his growing up years was attending Bible chapels in Elm Spring and Topeka, with daily family Bible readings. A deep understanding of responsibility and knowledge of who Jesus is stuck with him throughout his life and developed the strong helpful man we knew and loved.

He worked in automotive sales and for AAA-Kansas for many years. He met many people and made many lifelong friends. He loved the farm and was a good steward of the land.

Glen married Patricia Ann Johnston on Nov. 6, 1964 in Topeka. She survives, of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Vernon “Gene” Everhart.

Other survivors include a son, Matthew Aaron Everhart (Akie), Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Christie Lynn Fundis (Galen), Allen, Texas; two sisters, Doris Beth Kahler, Lawrence and Mary Lou Ward, Topeka; and a grandson, Garrett Fundis.

Graveside services and inurnment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Hoyt Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hoyt Cemetery Directory Fund and may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, PO Box 280, Hoyt, KS 66440.
