Earl Bowie 1925-2017
Earl Richard Bowie, 91, Burleson, Texas, formerly of Holton, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at Mustang Creek Estates in Burleson, Texas.
He was born March 26, 1925, near Valley Falls, the son of Joseph Harvey and Dora Elaine Hitlerbrand Bowie. He had lived in McLouth from 1955 to 1998 and in Holton from 1998 to 2015, when he moved to Texas.
Mr. Bowie was a farmer and dairyman for most of his life.
He married Melva Luella Tosh on April 12, 1946, in Valley Falls. She died Sept. 17, 2015. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Bowie; and 10 siblings.
Survivors include four sons, Gary Bowie, Austin, Texas, Kenneth Bowie and wife Linda, Crowley, Texas, Keith Bowie and wife Debra, Hoxie, and Dennis Bowie and wife Penny, Lawrence; a sister, Ruth Ethington, Emporia; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
