Dorothy Tolin 1919-2015

Dorothy P. Tolin, 95, Topeka, died on Friday, April 17, 2015, at Homestead Assisted Living in Auburn.
Dorothy was born on Dec. 31, 1919 in Blue Rapids, the daughter of Francis and Lillie (Blass) Cary. She graduated from Soldier High School.
Dorothy was married to James W. Tolin on April 23, 1938, in Soldier; he preceded her in death on May 3, 1983.
She was a longtime member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and was a founder of the Tuesday Caring Callers. She was an active volunteer and served on several community boards.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Marion) Callahan of Gardner; her two sons, James W. Jr. (Rosalind) Tolin of Roxboro, N.C., and Edwin D. (Sharon) Tolin of Auburn; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Monday morning, April 20 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 S.E. Michigan Ave., Topeka. Burial followed at Soldier Cemetery in Soldier at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the service.
