Doris Mulroy 1937-2014

 

Doris Mae Mulroy, 77, of Goff, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at her home.

She was born Aug. 2, 1937, at Vliets, the daughter of James and Mabel Dailey Hutchinson. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1956.

Doris had worked for South­western Bell Telephone Company, an insurance company, Skaggs and Osco Drugs, all in Topeka. After her first marriage, she became an Air Force wife and lived in numer­ous places, including Omaha and Germany.

She married Eldon Mulroy on Feb. 2, 1985 in Topeka. He sur­vives, of the home. She and Eldon have operated E&L Service in Goff since their marriage.

Doris was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore and the Altar Society at the church, where she had held all of the offi­cer positions. She was currently the president of the Auxiliary to Levick-Barrett Post No. 282 of the American Legion and was in charge of funeral dinners. Doris helped start and ran the Goff Food Pantry, and was an avid bowler for many years.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Laverne Hutchinson, James Hutchinson, and Lyle Hutchinson, and two sisters, Wilma Jean Hutchinson and Doro­thy Lee Hutchinson.

Other survivors include three sons, Dennis Guilbault and wife Teresa, Topeka, Patrick “Brian” Guilbault and wife Donna, Mari­etta, Ga., and Mason Guilbault and wife Denise, Buffalo, N.D.; one stepson, Dennis Mulroy, Soldier; three stepdaughters, Shelle Arnold and husband Randy, Topeka, Judy Mulroy, Aurora, Colo., and Angela Basile and husband Steve, Kearney, Mo.; a sister, Shirley Fisher, Buena Vista, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, two nieces, Tuesday Perkins and Janie Seymour; and two nephews, Bob Hutchinson and Clayton Fisher.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at St. James Catholic Church. Bur­ial will follow in Wetmore Cemetery. Doris will lie in state at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Monday, fol­lowed by visitation.
