Doris Lickteig 1939-2017

Doris Eva (Bach) Lickteig, 78, of Garnett, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Anderson County Hospital.

Doris was born March 15, 1939, in Garnett, the daughter of Fred and Florence Feuerborn Bach. She attended the High Point School and then graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1957.

On September 22, 1958, Doris married Glen Lickteig at Holy Angels Church, Garnett; they recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. This union was blessed with four children. They made their home on a farm northeast of Garnett. Doris worked with Glen on the farm and in the dairy operation for 32 years (1960-1992). After ending the dairy operation, they continued to farm until 2010.

She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scipio and then Holy Angels Catholic Church after moving to Garnett. She was a member of the altar societies for both churches. 

Survivors include her husband Glen, of the home; son, Kevin and wife Kerry of Olathe; two daughters, Cathy Barnes and husband Mike of Garnett, and Connie Powls and husband David of Holton; seven grandchildren, Kirby Barnes and wife Kim, Seth Lickteig and wife Amanda, Dane Lickteig and wife Molly, Keegan Barnes and wife Whitney, Spencer Lickteig, Michael Powls and Justine Powls; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Herb Bach and wife Cynthia of Jetmore; and a sister, Phyllis Demoret and husband Bill of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kurt Lickteig, in 1985; her parents, Fred and Florence Bach; a brother, Don Bach; and her father and mother-in-law, August and Mary Jockman Lickteig.

Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, Oct. 7 at Holy Angels Church in Garnett. Burial followed in  Holy Angels Cemetery.
