Doris Hutting 1924-2020

Doris Jean Hutting, 95, Circleville, formerly of Lenexa, died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at Holton Community Hospital.

She was born Dec. 14, 1924, in Madison, Wisc., the daughter of William J. and Margaret Anderson Pick. She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1943 and from Michigan State University in 1947 with a degree in physical education.

Mrs. Hutting worked as a physical education teacher in Michigan and later for Kuhlman Dye Casting in Stanley in the insurance claims department.

She was a member of the Shawnee Mission Hospital Auxiliary. 

She married Paul Joseph Hutting on Aug. 21, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1961. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Hutting; a grandson, Toby Smith; a granddaughter, Aiyana Smith; and two sisters, Pauline Pick and Mona Richardson.

Survivors include two sons, Richard W. “Dick” Hutting and wife Henrietta, Circleville, and William B. “Bill” Hutting, Lawrence; a daughter, Linda Dunn and husband Keith, Lenexa; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Mercer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
