Doris Hall 1932-2019

Doris Ione Hall, 87, of Holton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born Sept. 18, 1932, near Holton, the daughter of Ira L. and Rosa Morris Hollenbeck.

Doris attended Holton schools and lived much of her life in northeast Kansas. She had spent a few years in Texas helping her husband manage ranches. Doris had worked for the Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton and at a chicken ranch in Lansing, and she spent many years providing daycare for children in Seneca.

She had formerly been involved with the Southern Baptist Church in Texas.

Doris was married to Benjamin J. “B.J.” Hall on April 11, 1953, in Holton. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Benjamin Travis Hall, on Dec. 10, 1999; her sisters, Alpharetta Dachenhausen, Ellen Bryan and Maxine Frazier; and her brothers, Charles, James and Ralph Hollenbeck.

Doris is survived by her son, Benjamin Dale Hall (Monessa) of Holton; two grandsons, Quentin and Lucas Hall; two stepgranddaughters, Casandra and Amanda Pixler; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will follow in Holton Cemetery. She will lie in state beginning Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
