Donna Wharton 1926-2017
Donna Lou League Tolliver Wharton passed away July 7, 2017, surrounded by loved ones in Georgetown, Texas.
Donna grew up in Wetmore and was a graduate of WHS in 1944.
She was the daughter of Lewis and Vera (Levick) League, the granddaughter of Daniel and Ethel (Porter) League, great-granddaughter of David and Mary League (David was a decorated veteran of the Civil War), all of the Wetmore area. Maternal side: grandparents John and Mary H. (Peckham) Levick.
Donna leaves her children, Roxanne Tolliver Hixson, Claudia Tolliver Wilder and Robert Tolliver, and many adoring grandchildren; two sisters, Jean League DeForest and Jewel League (Dill) Heaton; nieces, Leigh Ann Dill, Kathryn DeForest and Linda DeForest; and nephew, Larry DeForest.
Donna was a loving, delightful and beautiful lady with a great sense of self and was a strong, supportive influence in all of our lives. Oh! how we miss her!
Our hearts are sad, but knowing God is comforting her now, we rejoice and sing her praises among us.
Her final resting place will be beside her late husband, Dr. L.H. Wharton, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. A celebration of Donna’s life is planned for later this fall.
