Donna Jewell-Simpson 1940-2018
Donna Lee Jewell-Simpson, 77, Emporia, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at her home.
She was born Nov. 1, 1940, in Holton, the daughter of Floyd Herbert and Martha Lucille Titus Daily. She graduated from Netawaka High School in 1959. She had lived in Emporia since 2003 and formerly lived in Whiting and Hiawatha.
Mrs. Simpson worked for Flairfold Manufacturing in Hiawatha, retiring after 18 years.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia.
She married William Harrison Jewell Sr. in 1958. He died in 1964. She married James J. Jewell. They divorced; he died in 2008. She married James Robert Simpson on Dec. 20, 1992. He died June 20, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Delores Clark; and three brothers, Jack, Harold and Don Daily.
Survivors include her children, William H. Jewell and wife Eileen, Mayetta, Charlotte M. Pinick and husband Paul, Emporia, and Clarence D. Jewell, Ottawa; three stepchildren, Tami Simpson, Hiawatha, Travis Simpson, Lawrence, and Jami Hodge and husband Jeremy, Hiawatha; five sisters, Lucille McDonald, in Texas, Elizabeth Conner and husband Charlie, Yuma, Ariz., Martha McCormick and husband Les, Frankfort, Mo., Elsie Stafford, York, Penn., and Diane Kingslee, in Texas; three brothers, Ed Daily and wife Joyce, Netawaka, Charles Daily, in California, and Pete Daily and wife Karen, St. John; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Sparks Cemetery east of Highland.
