Donald Carder 1932-2016
Donald D. Carder, 84, Valley Falls, died Friday, March 18, 2016, at Midland Care at Linnwood Park Assisted Living at Valley Falls.
He was born Jan. 2, 1932, at Studley, the son of Lonnie and Minnie Simon Carder. He graduated from Hoxie High School in 1950. He had been a resident of Valley Falls since 1965.
Mr. Carder retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka after 35 years of service.
He was a member of United Steel Workers Local Union 307. He was a member of Valley Falls Christian Church, where he had served as a deacon. He and his wife were also members of Touring Bikes of Kansas.
He married Lois M. Hale on July 29, 1951, at Hoxie. She died Nov. 19, 2008. He was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Edward Carder, on May 26, 1955; a brother, Ralph Carder; and two great-granddaughters, Madison Temm and Lucy Mitchell.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Darrell Carder and wife Gail, Topeka, Dee Carder, Bacliff, Texas, and Doran Carder and wife Rhonda, Peoria, Ariz.; a daughter, Donetta Farr and husband Stan, Valley Falls; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Monday morning at Valley Falls Christian Church. Inurnment will be held in Valley Falls Cemetery at a later date.
