Dolores Smith 1936-2016
Dolores Jeannine Smith, 79, Holton, formerly of Whiting and Topeka, died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Medicalodges Jackson County.
She was born May 21, 1936, in Whiting, the daughter of Stanley R. and Irene V. Andrick Knutsen. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1954.
Mrs. Smith was a housewife and farmwife for 12 years while living in Whiting. She then moved to Topeka and worked for Goodell Law Firm as a filing clerk for 20 years.
She attended Countryside Christian Church in Topeka.
She married Duaine W. “Bud” Smith on May 15, 1954, in Whiting. He died May 4, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel D. Smith and wife Becky, Topeka, and Steven M. Smith and wife Michelle, Valley Center; a daughter, Bonnie Carlson and husband Ron, Burlingame; three sisters, Leota Schneider and husband Ralph, Mound City, Christina “Tina” Bohnenkemper and husband Gaylen, Holton, and Joyce Daily and husband Ed, Netawaka; two brothers, Lowell Knutsen and wife Doris, Waverly, and Donald Knutsen, Horton; and six grandchildren, Tyler, Kyle, Riley and Markie Smith and Cole and Jacob Carlson.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial followed in Springhill Cemetery in Whiting.
