Dolores Johnson 1936-2018

Dolores Y. Johnson, 82, Topeka, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka.

She was born March 2, 1936, in Topeka, the daughter of Leslie M. and Marie V. Vice Hamm. She graduated from San Diego (Calif.) High School in 1954. She had lived most of her life in the Topeka and Holton area; she also lived in Yakima, Wash., and San Diego, Calif.

Mrs. Johnson was self-employed with her husband at their resort in Missouri in her early years. She also worked for Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton. After moving to Topeka, she worked for the League of Kansas Municipalities, Sears, Security Benefit, EDS Federal and Blue Cross and Blue Shield, all in Topeka.

She was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church, Blue Cross Retirees and Keenagers, all in Topeka.

She married Delbert Dean Johnson. He died in 2001. She was also preceded in death by a son, David D. Johnson, in 2004.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William E. “Bill” Johnson, Topeka; a foster daughter, Deborah Helms, Auburn, Neb.; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Holton Cemetery. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
