Dolly Sorensen 1923-2016
Doloretta “Dolly” Juyne Schubert Sorensen, 92, Bonner Springs, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 6 at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, with burial to follow in the Bonner Springs Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Leavenworth County Humane Society, P.O. Box 308, Basehor, KS 66007, or in care of the funeral home.
Dolly was born on Dec. 23, 1923, on the family farm in Bonner Springs and has lived most of her life in this area. She grew up and spent her married life working hard on the farm, raising her family. Later in life she enjoyed working as a “Greeter” at the Bonner Springs Walmart.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Harry “Brick” Sorensen, in 1996; and three sisters. Her survivors include two sons, Mark Sorensen (Marilyn) of Bonner Springs, and Gary Sorensen (Patty) of Holton; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
