Dick Currie 1937-2017
Fred “Dick” Currie, 79, Scandia, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1937, in Concordia, son of the late Fred and Margaret Freed Currie. He was retired from Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka.
He married Linda Lu Howard on May 27, 1972. They lived in rural Mayetta for several years before returning to his hometown of Scandia. Dick’s wife, Linda L. Currie, died on Aug. 14, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Currie.
Survivors include a brother, Allen and wife Linda M. Currie of Ord, Neb.; his children, Randall Currie and Stacie Mitchell of Carbondale, Gregory and Linda K. Currie of Topeka, Angelee and Kurt Grimmett of Meriden, Kellie and John Graves of Sapulpa, Okla., Luanne Colhouer and Rick Haas of Holton, LaDene Currie of Hot Springs, S.D., and Daryl Goodnow of Meriden; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at the United Methodist Church, 418 Cloud Street, Scandia, followed by burial in the Riverview Cemetery.
