Dena Walrod-LaBrecque 1969-2022

Dena Walrod-LaBrecque, 52, Hoyt, died Thursday, March 24, 2022, at The University of Kansas Health Systems St. Francis Campus in Topeka.

She was born Oct. 24, 1969, in Holton, the daughter of John and Rosalie Baskett Walrod. She graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1988.

Mrs. LaBrecque had worked for the State of Kansas since she was 18, most recently for the Department of Labor.

She married Randy LaBrecque on Sept. 24, 2008, in Topeka. He survives.

Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Bailey Ridgway, Topeka; and two sisters, Tena Goehring, Topeka, and Gena Addis and husband John, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 1 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Mrs. LaBrecque will lie in state Thursday at the funeral home, where family and friends will meet from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
