Deb Larkin 1948-2015

 

Deb Kay Larkin, 66, Mayetta, died Friday, March 20, 2015, at her home.

She was born May 28, 1948, at Mandan, N.D., the daughter of Donald and Irene Iverson Wing. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1966 and later from a beauty school.

Mrs. Larkin worked as a beauty operator until her children were born and later worked for a Hall­mark Store and a shipping and packaging company. She then owned and operated her own ship­ping and packaging company until moving to Kansas. After moving to Topeka she worked at the Half Price Store and was a long time hostess at Blind Tiger Brewery and Restaurant.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta and the Altar Society at the church.

She married Larry J. Larkin on Oct. 17, 1970, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan, N.D. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Donald Ira Larkin and wife Hailey, Topeka; a daughter, Kayla Jo Berg and husband Gary, Littleton, Colo.; three sisters, Donna Hamilton, in Florida, and Carol Spicer and Sandy Rekkedahl, both in South Carolina; and two grandchildren, Deaven and Alexandrea Larkin. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kelly Wing; and two sisters, Bertha Fischer and Avis Weidrick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Hoyt. Mrs. Larkin will lie in state Wednesday and Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday, fol­lowed by visitation.
