David McClintock 1952-2022

David Eugene “Crash” McClintock, 70, of Holton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, with family by his side.

He was born Sept. 26, 1952, in Holton, the son of Ted A. and Marianne E. (Davis) McClintock.

David graduated from Holton High School with the infamous class of 1970. He proudly served in the United States Navy Seabees from 1970 to 1974. He was stationed at Gulfport, Miss., and was deployed to Puerto Rico, Antigua and the Philippines. The latter is where he met his bride, Zennie. They were married on June 27, 1975, in Holton. They celebrated more than 47 years of marriage.

He was an electrician by trade, working for the City of Holton, Haug Construction, General Foods, Reser’s and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in 2019. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

David was a member of Holton Livestock Association. He enjoyed reading, American history, genealogy and watching old western TV shows. He loved visiting with people, attending class of 1970 gatherings and road trips with his family. In the finality of his life, David was able to help many others through being an organ and tissue donor.

Survivors include his wife, Zennie, of the home; daughter, Michelle Blindt (Ben) of Circleville; son, Jim McClintock of Lawrence; sister, Virginia Boettcher (Ronald) of Emporia; three brothers, Roger McClintock (Sue) of Holton, Edward McClintock of Soldier and Peter McClintock of Holton; grandson, Miles McClintock-Strozier of Dallas, Texas; and three stepgrandsons, Tyler Blindt, Jacob Blindt and Christian Blindt and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Layla, all of Topeka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Marianne McClintock.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with military honors will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
