Darlyne VanNortwick 1942-2015
Mass of Christian Burial for Darlyne Ann VanNortwick, 72, McLouth, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 31 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery, Holton. She passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.
Darlyne was born June 16, 1942, in Horton, the daughter of Clarence Conrad and Anna Frances (Gormley) Hagel.
She lived in Horton until she was two years old and then moved to Holton, where she married Gary Lee VanNortwick on Dec. 24, 1974. She later moved to McLouth, where she lived on a farm and was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid Jayhawk fan.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Gary, McLouth; one daughter, Kristi Dick and husband Jerry, Topeka; two grandchildren, Kerry and Karley; one great-grandson, Ryder; one sister, Eleanor Becker; and numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces; and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Hamlin and Kathleen Proctor.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
