Daniel McGinnis 1949-2018

Daniel Lee McGinnis, 68, Topeka, died Monday, May 21, 2018, at his home.

He was born Aug. 23, 1949, in Manhattan, the son of Dale M. and Lenita E. Arnold McGinnis. He graduated from Pratt High School in 1967 and attended Pratt Junior College.

Mr. McGinnis served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a salesman for Hummert International, selling greenhouses across Kansas for more than 22 years. He was a former member of DeMolay International and a volunteer with the Kansas State University Horticulture Department for several years.

He married Barbara Ellen Baxter on July 4, 1970, in Soldier. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Brandi Wells and husband Richard, Topeka, and Heather Morrow, Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Leah Cole and husband Tim, Edmond, Okla., and Linda Woodruff and husband Warren, Topeka; two brothers, Doug McGinnis and wife Connie, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Don McGinnis and wife Jean, Topeka; five grandchildren, Trinity, Ainsley, Cooper, Delaney and Arik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. Saturday until service time.
