Curtis Stirton 1959-2018
Curtis Eugene Stirton, 59, Muscotah, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, during surgery at the University of Kansas Health System-St. Francis Campus in Topeka.
He was born July 29, 1959, in Horton, the son of Harold and Bernice Daugherty Stirton. He lived most of his life in Muscotah.
Mr. Stirton owned and operated a gas station and was a local mechanic for many years. He later was a heavy equipment operator in construction, building watershed dams. He built his own building and started the Onaga Locker and a fencing company. He also farmed with his father.
He was a member of Muscotah United Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Green Stirton, of the home; a son, C.J. Stirton, of the home; his mother, Bernice Stirton, Muscotah; two sisters, Beverely Jeffrey and husband Cecil, Effingham, and Barbara Scoggins and husband Fleet, Muscotah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton. Family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.
