Clyde Eisenbarth 1940-2023

Clyde C. Eisenbarth, 83, of Corning, died on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Life Care Center of Seneca.

Clyde was born on Jan. 4, 1940, the only child of Cyril and Thelma Thoren Eisenbarth. He grew up in the Corning community and attended Rose Hill Country School. He attended Corning High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. After graduation he continued to help his father on the family farm and worked on the construction of the Corning Elevator.

He married Dorothy Lichter on Sept. 4, 1959, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga. The couple spent the first two years of their marriage in Corning before moving to the family farm south of Corning in 1965.

Clyde worked for Nemaha County on the Road and Bridge Department for a few years, before being employed from 1977-1979 to help with the construction of Jeffrey Energy Center near St. Marys. From 1965-1985, he operated a dairy farm with his wife and family prior to changing over to beef. Clyde also was employed by CR Industries in Seneca until his retirement.

Clyde enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and being on his farm. He also enjoyed visiting with neighbors. He took great pleasure in going to his grandchildren’s sporting events and talking about the history of Corning.

Clyde was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Corning and a long-term member of the Red Vermillion Township board.

Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on Sept. 1, 2012; and a son, Eric, on July 28, 1997.

He is survived by his four sons, John Eisenbarth and Tim (Sarah) Eisenbarth, both of Soldier, Randy (Jeanne) Eisenbarth of Hutchinson and Jesse (Jeanette) Eisenbarth of Onaga; a daughter, Annette (Gary) Schreiber of Soldier; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A rosary was prayed on Sunday afternoon at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by Fr. Matthew Francis at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning on Monday, March 20. The draping of the pall that was placed on his casket was done by his children. The lector was Roger Haug. Giftbearers were his granddaughters, Rachel Eisenbarth, Lucy Eisenbarth and Bethany Eisenbarth. Communion distributor was Jeanette Eisenbarth. 

The pallbearers were his grandsons, Matt Schreiber, Luke Schreiber, Garett Schreiber, Nathan Eisenbarth, Michael Eisenbarth, Thomas Eisenbarth, Titus Eisenbarth, Titan Eisenbarth and Tatum Eisenbarth. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given in Clyde’s name to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
