Clara Long 1944-2019

Clara Louise Long, 74, of Hoyt passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at her home.

She was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Beloit, the daughter of Earl Valentine and Florence Irene (Wenger) Perry.

Clara graduated from Beloit High School in 1960. She owned and operated Clara’s Café, beginning in 1976 for many years. She was a past member of Order of Eastern Star in Hoyt.

Clara married Marvin Long on Oct. 30, 1989, in Mayetta. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2017. They celebrated more than 28 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Gloria Earlene Martin.

Survivors include her sister, Nancy Eileen Duvall of Concordia; two stepdaughters, Kellie Bryan of Hoyt and Barbara Brown of Topeka; four stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Cary Duvall, Amy Duvall and Josh Duvall, all of Concordia.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private family inurnment will be held in Hoyt Cemetery following the service.
