Clair Gunther 1928-2015
Clair F. Gunther, 87, Mayetta, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.
He was born May 8, 1928 in rural Soldier, the son of William E. and Flossie M. Fisher Gunther. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1946.
Mr. Gunther worked for Goodyear for more than 30 years and was also a farmer.
He was a member of Local 307 United Steel Workers and a member of Denison Bible Church, where he served on the elder board, taught Sunday school and was an Awana leader.
He married Marie V. Hedges on June 25, 1950, in Holton. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Dixie Battey and husband Randy, Aberdeen, S.D.; two sons, Curtis Gunther and wife Rogene, Washburn, Iowa, and Bruce Gunther and wife Reggi, Topeka; a half-sister, Gloria Ryan, in California; a brother, Jean Gunther, Topeka; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gunther, and a grandson, Ryan Gunther, in 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 at Denison Bible Church. Burial will follow in Denison Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
