Charles Early 1930-2017
Charles Dee Early Jr., P.E., 86, Holton, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Medicalodges Jackson County.
He was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Topeka, the son of Charles Dee Early Sr. and Ruby Keim Early. He graduated from Northwestern University with a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
Mr. Early served in the U.S. Army in Germany for three years and was in the Army Reserve until he served in Vietnam in 1962. He had recently moved to Holton after previously living in Arizona and Massachusetts. He worked for more than 35 years for GTE International as director of joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.
He married Liliane J. Early-Exelmans in 1984 in Belgium. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Ruth A. Early, Mechanicsville, Va.; a stepdaughter, Annick Mees-Verstrepen, in Belgium; a granddaughter, Julie Martin; and a grandson, Seibe Mees.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Mercer Funeral Home in Holton is in charge of arrangements.
