Carson Abramson 1938-2022

Carson Graham “Abe” Abramson, 84, Hiawatha, died Saturday, April 16, 2022.

He was born Jan. 6, 1938, in Arrington, the son of Earl and Mabel Ernst Abramson.  He graduated from ACCHS High School in 1956.

Mr. Abramson served in the Army Reserves after graduation until 1963, achieving the rank of Sgt. E4. He worked at Hiawatha Motor Company for 26 years, starting in 1964, as an auto mechanic and service manager. He also worked for four years as an over-the-road truck driver for Keim Transportation and later for 10 years as a part-time courier for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Hiawatha. He also was a member of the Jaycees, Chevrolet’s “Only the Best” Club, the Hiawatha Amateur Radio Club and served as the first president of the Hiawatha Association for Retarded Citizens.

He married Elaine Gibson on Oct. 14, 1961. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Scott Abramson and Darren Abramson and wife Sherryl; a daughter, Joy Abramson Letcher; five grandchildren, Chad Abramson, Matthew Abramson, Melissa Abramson, Brandon Letcher and Meagan Letcher Fewell and husband Brandon; and a great-grandson, Liam Carson Fewell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orville Abramson; and a sister, Karen Abramson Shell.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21 at First Christian Church in Hiawatha. Burial will be held in Valley Falls. A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
