Carolyn Reicherter 1944-2022

Carolyn Melaine Schurlknight Reicherter, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on May 3, 2022.
Carolyn was born Nov. 2, 1944, in Charleston, S.C., the only daughter of Coit and Virgie Schurlknight.
Carolyn graduated from North Charleston High School, Charleston, S.C. Following graduation she worked in downtown Charleston.
On Jan. 11, 1964, she wed Douglas M. Reicherter at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Doug was stationed in Charleston, S.C. in the Air Force when they met and wed. To this union they were blessed with four children, Angela, Teresa, Keith and Paul. In 1974, the family moved back to Kansas.
Carolyn and Doug were entrepreneurs, operating several businesses in both South Carolina and Kansas, most recently Reicherter Construction and Reicherter Rentals. Carolyn was also devoted to her children during their early years and worked in the banking industry.
Carolyn was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton.
She is survived by her children Angela Allen (Joe), Salina, Teresa Reicherter (Ryan Crawford), Leawood, Keith Reicherter (Jennifer), Mayetta, and Paul Reicherter M.D. (Jessica Jellison M.D.), Missoula, Mont.; grandchildren, Savannah, Sam and Jeb Allen, Evan, Katie and Kirsten Reicherter, and Ava, Emma, Sophia, Luke, Isabella, Pippa, Oliva and Cooper Reicherter; her brother, Kevin Schurlknight (Janet); a sister-in-law, Camille Schurlknight; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug; her parents; and her brother, Ronald Schurlknight.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6 at St. Dominic Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Holton. Carolyn will lie in state Thursday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton, where a rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., followed by visitation until 8 p.m.
