Cal Teal 1953-2022

Calvin R. “Cal” Teal, 68, Lyons, Ohio, formerly of Holton, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at St. Anne’s Hospital.

He was born Dec. 20, 1953, in Holton, the son of Kenneth Roy and Nelda Lamberson Teal. He graduated from Hayden High School.

Mr. Teal served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Hawaii. He worked for General Motors for 36 years.

He was an active member of Catholic War Veterans Post 306 in Assumption, Ohio, and the Fulton County Honor Guard. He served as past president of the Lyons and Area Historical Society and wrote a book, “20 On The Run Then and Now.”

He married Barbara Barden on April 7, 1979. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Jason Teal and wife Laura and Jake Teal; two daughters, Jackie Warren and husband Michael and Jenna Andrews and husband Tyson; 11 grandchildren, Katelyn, Aidan, Breah, JJ, Taylor, Allison, Colin, Maxwell, Hank, Jack and Millie; a brother, Kenny Teal and wife Shirley, Holton; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Barden Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Nelda Teal; and an infant sister.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Assumption, Ohio, with visitation one hour prior. Interment with military rites will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery. Visitation will also be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home in Metamora, Ohio, where a Catholic War Veterans Service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic War Veterans Post 306 in Assumption, Ohio.
