Bonnie Williams 1944-2020

Bonnie J. Williams, 76, Netawaka, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, at Hiawatha Hospital.

She was born April 4, 1944, in Cameron, Mo., the daughter of Wallard and Clara Scott Turner. She had lived in the Netawaka community for 27 years and previously in Horton.

Mrs. Williams was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and Certified Medication Aide. She worked for many years for Merry Manor in Holton and Tri-County Manor in Horton.

She was a member of Netawaka United Methodist Church.

She married Darrell W. Williams on June 16, 1989, in Horton. He died April 17, 2019. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shila Lawrence, in 2018.

Survivors include four children, Mary Waggerman and husband Sean, Reed Springs, Mo., Wendell Blanton Jr. and wife Adriana, Tulsa, Okla., Sonny Blanton and wife Lynn, Topeka, and Ronnie Blanton and wife Leah, Tulsa, Okla.; eight sisters, Bea Teany, St. Joseph, Mo., Lucy Taylor and husband Clarence, Kansas City, Mo., Betty Hodge and husband Gene and Judy Knorr, all of Mayetta, Wander Hernandez and husband Frank, St. Joseph, Mo., and Carol Sue Studa, Rita Raines and Pammy Nixon and husband Jerry, all of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Jimmy Turner and wife Linda, Clarksdale, Mo.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams will lie in state until 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2 and Sunday, Jan. 3 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4 in Netawaka Cemetery.
